Cairo
In partnership with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, The Prince’s School has facilitated a series of courses and workshops at the Al Foustat Centre in Cairo since March 2006. Workshops offered by The School’s staff and alumni have provided local craftsmen, artisans and designers with an opportunity to revisit the principles of traditional design and apply these to their ceramics, woodwork, metalwork, plaster, textile, and other designs.

All the pieces in the collection are handmade. Designs conform to traditional principles of composition and colour and are hand-drawn from traditional motifs and stylised themes from nature. Each piece is unique and displays an accomplished ability.
This creative collaboration has resulted in a distinctive body of work, which is being offered for sale as a part of the Traditional Arts Ltd portfolio in keeping with the strategy of supporting traditional crafts worldwide. Products from the Al Foustat Centre are also available at Selfridges.
