Master of Philosophy (MPhil)

The normal length of a Master of Philosophy degree programme is one year full-time or two years part-time; however, in some cases, the first year of an MPhil degree is considered as a probationary period for a PhD degree.

The MPhil programme is a research degree (theory-based as distinct from the mainly practical Master of Arts degree) awarded after the successful completion of an approved programme of supervised research comprising approximately 50,000 or 60,000 words.

Requirements

Candidates must normally have obtained a relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification or have relevant experience. Applicants whose first language is not English are subject to the same linguistic conditions as students applying to the Master of Arts Degree Course.
