Pigments, Colour Harmony and Traditional Painting Techniques

This course introduces students to the preparation of traditional pigments from minerals and earths for use in the making of water colours and egg tempera.   Participants will also explore some of the rich symbolism of colour as well as different approaches to creating harmonious palettes, resulting in a finished painting in egg tempera by the end of the course. Participants should bring a small sketch book for colour harmony studies.
