Chinese Brush Painting

10th March - 31st March at The Prince's School for Traditional Arts, Charlotte Road, London

This course will provide the traditional introduction given to students beginning Chinese Brush Painting, called 'Ink Painting', in China.

By learning to paint 'The Four Gentlemen'  (bamboo, plum blossom, orchid and chrysanthemum) each student will build up the catalogue of strokes needed to paint further subjects.

The brushes, paints, ink and paper used are different from those we are familiar with in the West. The Chinese invented silk and paper and their painting traditions are very much older than ours.

By the end of the course students will have learned how to hold the brush properly and will have produced pictures using Chinese ink and colours.
