Traditional Arts Ltd
The trading company Traditional Arts Limited is a natural extension of the desire of HRH The Prince of Wales to ensure that the great traditions of design and craftsmanship, which have been handed down from one generation to another over countless years, are maintained and nurtured. While The Prince’s School has worked to recover and renew these art and craft traditions, and to bring them to new generations of young people through an education programme, it is equally important that the products developed with traditional methods are brought to market.

Working in cooperation with Traditional Arts Limited students and alumni of The School are able to fulfil commissions for decorative objects of the highest quality. The products are made by master craftspeople demonstrating their abiding knowledge of traditional principles, methods, and materials. In a relationship that has been described as “a virtuous circle”, all of the trading company’s profits are donated to the School, thus ensuring that young people from all over the world continue to be educated in the traditional approach to art and craft, and supporting the recognition of its relevance as a contemporary means of expression.
As HRH The Prince of Wales has written,
“I believe passionately that the enduring relevance of traditional art makes it economically sustainable. Our aim through the company is to demonstrate that fact by bringing to market the work of the designers and craftsmen who keep alive the traditional methods, and by ensuring that profits from our trading activity go to support the continued training of young people in these living traditions.”
