AMBER KHOKHAR is an artist, designer and teacher. She graduated from Central Saint Martin’s and has a Masters from The Prince’s School of Traditional Arts. On seeing her watercolour designs for silk and wool carpets “Under Which Rivers Flow”, HRH The Prince of Wales commissioned Amber to design a carpet for The Picture Gallery in Buckingham Palace. This 40- metre-long carpet, the first modern carpet for the Palace, runs along the floor of the gallery containing George IV’s collection, which includes paintings by Holbein, Rubens, Rembrandt, Canaletto and Van Dyke.
Amber works from her studio in London, where public and private galleries, art buyers and design businesses buy her distinctive hand-painted art and designs. She is commissioned by private and public clients, such as The Islamic Art Museum Malaysia; Rolls Royce; Aintree University Hospital, Liverpool; Islamia Girls’ School and Warren Park Children’s Centre. Her artwork has been exhibited at The Queen’s Museum of Art, New York; The Red Gallery, Shoreditch; and the William Morris Gallery, London. She runs practical workshops in many countries and teaches on the ‘World Art and Artefacts Programme’ at Birkbeck College, University of London.
