Royal Tour of Asia: Japan and Brunei
The Nara Crafts Museum
An exhibition was held in the Nara Crafts Museum to coincide with the visit of TRH the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall to Japan. The exhibition included work by two of the School's Japanese alumnae, Kayo Kimura and Hitomi Yasuda, who designed traditional Japanese patterns and applied them to pottery and ceramic pieces. The pottery master Oshio-san described our alumnae's work as inspirational. The visit and exhibition were a great success and have resulted in a new venture to generate contemporary Japanese crafts using traditional principles.
Brunei Darussalam Workshops
Our Alumnae Amber Khokhar and Helen White conducted a series of workshops on geometric design at University of Brunei Darussalam. Their Royal Highnesses joined one of the workshops and sat alongside the students to paint floral motifs. They both enjoyed the workshop and meeting the students. In the future, we hope to forge a longer-term relationship with University of Brunei Darussalam.
