In January the School visited Rose Town, Jamaica to assess the potential for establishing an education programme focusing on design for the commercialisation of products by local craftsmen and artisans.
The team from the School visited pottery workshops and retail outlets to view the local craftwork and assess the market. They then conducted a workshop in the local library to introduce craftsmen to the design techniques taught at the School.
There was genuine enthusiasm from the local craftsmen and we hope to be able to return to Jamaica to develop this project further.
