|Dates:||7 May 2019 - 10 May 2019|
|Time:||10:30 - 17:30|
|Location:||The Prince's Foundation School of Traditional Arts|
|Tutor:||Dr Radu Leon|
Explore representations of flowers and plants in modern Western painting from the 16th to 18th centuries.
Guided by your tutor, examine works by by Northern European and Italian masters, when the first botanical gardens began to flourish in Europe. Then, look to 17th and 18th century depictions of elaborate flower works by Dutch and Flemish masters . You will observe the artists' quest for harmony underlying all these floral compositions as visual schemes, and geometric patterns begin to emerge.
The practical aspect of the course follows the colour and design principles of the 18th century masters. Use pastels to produce convincing and aesthetically gratifying representations of flowers – drawn from life in the traditional manner of the 18th century masters.
