This course will focus on piercing technique. You will make a silver pendant in traditional geometric or arabesque style, learn how develop a design suited to piercing, how to apply it to metal and how to use a saw to pierce silver sheet.

You should come with some pre-prepared design sketches and be ready to discuss and develop them. All materials and equipment will be supplied, although you may be asked to purchase some (relatively inexpensive) blades.


Tutor biography

Hajra Williams

Hajra graduated in Jewellery Design at Glasgow School of Art with first class honours before embarking on a Masters degree in Fine Art at the Royal College of Art in London. She went on to develop a career in museum education at the V&A. Examples of her early enamel jewellery are in Glasgow City’s Modern Art and in private collections.
