'Modern' calligraphy script, written with a pointed pen, is a hybrid between copperplate and italic handwriting. It and is particularly useful - and beautiful - for invitations, place cards, greetings cards etc.
The course will cover learning essential skills and then apply script in words and phrases.
Who is this course for?
This one-day workshop is suitable for all levels including beginners.
What should I bring?
Students will be asked to bring their own pen holder and nibs. All other materials will be provided.

Gaynor Goffe has been a professional calligrapher for 35 years and has taught widely in the UK, Europe, USA, and Japan. She trained in the mid-1970s at Reigate School of Art & Design in calligraphy, heraldic design, and illumination. She worked for calligrapher Donald Jackson for three years in the late-1970's. She is a long-standing Fellow of the Society of Scribes & Illuminators and the Calligraphy & Lettering Arts Society, and a member of Letter Exchange. She has written two books, Calligraphy Made Easy and Calligraphy Step by Step, and runs her own correspondence courses. She works to commission, particularly making creative panels of poetry and prose, some incorporating letter-carved stone.
