Short Courses & Lectures
The Open Programme offers lectures, workshops and short, practical courses in traditional arts and crafts. These are open to anyone over the age of 16 and suit all levels of ability and experience, from beginners to seasoned practitioners.
Students who complete five courses within three years are eligible to receive a certificate of completion.
Celtic Geometry and Imagination

This course will explore the interplay between traditional geometry and imaginative freehand ornament within Celtic Art from its Palaeolithic beginnings through to Classical and Christian periods. Students will learn to draw and compose the traditional forms of knotwork and key patterns as well as the unique geometrical methods of compass drawn spiral patterns. The Celtic practice of composing manuscript pages using the geometry of squares and proportional rectangles will also be covered.
